Deer and other Wildlife Management Plans
We meet with you to discuss your wildlife and hunting goals. Then we walk through and examine your forest, and we come up with some options for a wildlife management plan. We discuss these options with you, and consider some ways to improve the forest habitat conditions on your property.
Timber Sale Administration
If the removal of timber would serve to enhance the wildlife habitat in order to achieve your hunting goals, we carefully mark the appropriate timber for removal using scientifically-approved forestry and wildlife-management principles. We oversee a bidding process, which ensures that the professional logging company who is willing to pay the most for your timber is the logging company who gets the job. Then we supervise the logging process to make sure that your forest is treated with the respect that it deserves.
Crop Tree Release and Timber Stand Improvement
Crop Tree Release can be used in young forests to save valuable wildlife trees from the pressures of competition from less valuable trees. This can also significantly increase the value of timber on your property in future years. Timber Stand Improvement (TSI) involves the removal of undesirable, invasive, and destructive plants from your forest. TSI can be used in conjunction with a wildlife management plan to make your property eligible for Current Agricultural Use Valuation (CAUV) and Ohio Forest Tax Law (OFTL) tax reductions.
